HIS 2260 - Asia in the World3 cr Contemporary discussions of globalization often lack historical and regional perspective. This course provides just that: an examination of the economic, religious, diplomatic, military and cultural relationships among and between Asians and the rest of the world from ca. 600 to the present time. Focus on India, China, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and Pakistan. We will address imperial domination and revolutionary resistance, economic and ethnic nationalism, current dynamics, and the role of historical memory, as in the legacy of World War II. Spring
