NUR 4010 - Family Health Nursing

3 cr
The focus of this course is on the family as client. The framework for investigation and assessment is family systems theory combined with a development life-cycle approach. Cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic variables that strongly influence family life are analyzed. Advanced communication skills and critical thinking are emphasized as students are challenged to critique the best current evidence and family theory in delivering compassionate care to selected families that reflect patient and family preferences.  Simulated and Virtual Hospital experience enhance practice experiences in ambulatory and community settings.  A clinical practicum of 42 hours is required.
