ECO 3210 - Great Ideas in Economics3 cr This course explores the underlying questions and enduring themes in economic thought and debate. What is economic justice? What is the proper role of government in the economy? Are capitalism and democracy compatible? What is our duty to future generations? We will consider answers offered by various thinkers-from Adam Smith to Karl Marx, from John Maynard Keynes to Milton Friedman. Then we will fashion our own answers for our own time. This course fulfills the Social and Behavioral Understanding Frame of Reference. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing and one course in Economics; or consent of instructor. Fall, odd years
