PHY 1160 - Renewable Energy

3-4 cr

The majority of energy consumed in the United States is derived from non- renewable sources.  Renewable energy technologies have emerged which could supplement or replace the use of fossil fuels.  This course will include an in-depth analysis of modern renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and biomass.  Students will be expected to critique these technologies based on environmental impact, economics, and technical details.
This course fulfills the Social & Behavioral or the Scientific & Mathematical Understanding frame of reference.
