Mathematics (BS.MAT)

Students who complete the Mathematics major are able to:

  1. Analyze given information and utilize computational skills, algorithms, and theoretical knowledge to solve problems;
  2. Communicate mathematics clearly and effectively: read with understanding and interpret, express ideas orally and in writing;
  3. Choose and employ current technologies to explore a phenomenon, model a problem, analyze data, and draw conclusions;
  4. Develop and test conjectures, and read, construct, critique, and present rigorous mathematical proofs.

Upon successfully completing the major, graduates will be well equipped to secure desired employment in education, pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science, as well as to pursue graduate studies in mathematics or math-related programs of study.
