Distinguished Scholars' Certificate

The Distinguished Scholars' Certificate program provides high-achieving students with the opportunity to participate in and contribute to a stimulating academic experience with a supportive community of peers and professors.  The program encourages a campus climate of intellectual curiosity and academic achievement.

Distinguished Scholars' Certificate students are eligible for membership in the Honors Council and to apply for Honors housing and a competitive scholarship.

This certificate program is open to all students who achieve and maintain a 3.5 GPA. 

To earn the DSC, students must complete 12 credits of HON courses, selected from any combination of:

  • An Honors-designated FYS
  • HON 1010 Great Ideas in the Castleton Curriculum (every Fall)
  • ENG 2270 Honors Touchstones (every Spring)
  • HON 2020 Special Topics in Honors (two sections of HON 2020 are offered each semester; you may enroll in two sections of this course in the same semester. This course may be taken four times.)

This certificate is available for matriculated students only and is awarded in conjunction with a degree.
