Occupational Therapy (Castleton+Sage Graduate School 4+2) (MS-OPT)

This program allows students to earn a bachelor's degree at Castleton University and then pursue a Masters in Occupational Therapy (OT) at Sage Graduate Schools in Troy, NY.  Qualified Castleton students are provided:

  • Preferred acceptance (on a space available basis) into the Sage Graduate Schools for students who have completed the occupational therapy course prerequisites;
  • Waiver of the Sage Graduate Schools application fee;
  • Early acceptance;
  • Access to Sage advisors to coordinate undergraduate electives and coursework to reduce or eliminate prerequisites in the graduate program.

Specific program requirements:


1. Complete a baccalaureate degree program at Castleton


Students may choose from any of Castleton's baccalaureate programs, but we recommend that pre-OT students consider majoring in Psychology, Biology, Exercise & Sports Science, Health Science, or Kinesiology.

2. Complete these Pre-Occupational Therapy courses (27 cr)


BIO 2011, BIO 2012, and PHY 2110 must be completed with a GPA of 3.0 or better

All other courses must be completed with grades of C or better

3. Attain an overall GPA of 3.25 or better


Admission to Sage Graduate School:


To qualify for preferred acceptance to the OT program, students agree to the following:

By June 1 of the year preceding graduation from Castleton:

1. Submit a completed application online at: https://www.sage.edu/admission/graduate/

  • The career goals essay and resume can be submitted with the online application.
  • The supplemental forms (clinical observation form, program prerequisite record, OT program academic standards statement) can be emailed as attachments to sgsadm@sage.edu

2. Email the OT Department (sageot@sage.edu) and Sage Graduate School Admissions (sgsadm@sage.edu) indicating that the application has been submitted according to Castleton's articulation agreement.

3. Submit official transcripts from all college institutions attended.

4. Submit one letter of reference from a Castleton University faculty.

Within 30 days of acceptance to Sage:

5. Make enrollment deposit of $300 (non-refundable, but will be applied toward graduate tuition).

Upon graduation from Castleton:

6. Submit official transcripts documenting completion of undergraduate degree and OT program prerequisite courses.

7. Submit Clinical Observation Document showing 20 hours of clinical observation with an occupational therapist.
